This initiative was initiated in August 2024 and MPOC with MTGC had organised several CTRE in various plantations within the country.
The objective of this program was to provide tourist guides with the updated information which would assist them in their guiding assignments and also to answer the questions from discerning visitors about our oil palm industry.
This collaboration was fruitful and enriching and most tourist guides can now confidently handle visitors and deliver facts about the oil palm industry, its down stream products, challenges and the way forward.
16TH JULY 2026 – FELDA INAS SELATAN KULAI JOHOR
The visit to Felda Inas Selatan in Kulai Johor saw 36 tourist guides from Johor participating and the visit was an eye-opener as the respective personnel from MPOC provided their input which covered:
Introduction to MPOC and the Malaysian Palm oil industry
Sustainability and conservation efforts in the Malaysian palm oil industry
Healthy eating with Malaysian Palm oil
Lively Quiz where there were fantastic prizes from MPOC .
( Safety not to be compromised – all participants were provided with safety helmets and ushered into vans that brought them for the field visit)
Highlight of the visit was the field visit where MPOC and our gracious host Felda Inas Selatan personnel highlighted the planting sequence from seedlings @ nursery to field and even harvesting and how the fresh fruit bunches (FFB) were transported to mills . Participants were briefed on the biological control of pest with the introduction of barn owls. They were even able to see up front the barn owl huts that were provided within the plantation!
Another highlight was of course the use of AI technology via drones for fertilising the field. Field day for the tourist guides who turned “paparazzi” – cameras ready for the full action when the drone was launched. Definitely an experience which they will be able to translate to their visitors on how our plantations are effectively managed to maximise yields!
Our gracious host provided us with sufficient refreshment and a lunch that was wholesome and in keeping with the concept of “ healthy eating with palm oil” nonetheless.
All participants went back with goody bag- supplies Palm Oil of course and a gentle and constant reminder that this Golden crop definitely “fuels our economy”.
We would like to thank MPOC personnel and our host Felda Inas Selatan for a wonderful experience and we look forward with more visits as part of our Continuing Tourism Related Education Programs. Thanks MTGC and JTGA on their unwavering commitment towards sourcing and providing opportunities for meaningful collaborations with industry players for sustainable tourism initiatives in Malaysia.
