The Malaysian Tourist Guide Council (MTGC) organised its first CTRE Administrator and Certified Facilitator Workshop for 2026 on 9 June at the Pearl International Kuala Lumpur Hotel. The workshop was attended by approximately 40 participants, comprising individuals involved in the administration, facilitation and implementation of Continuing Tourism Related Education (CTRE) programmes for tourist guides.

The workshop aimed to familiarise participants with the policies, procedures, management, and implementation of the Continuing Tourism Related Education (CTRE) programme. Through the workshop, participants were provided with a better understanding of the requirements and responsibilities involved in effectively administering and facilitating CTRE activities, which play an important role in supporting the continuous professional development of tourist guides.

The programme also served as a platform for participants to enhance their knowledge and skills in managing CTRE programmes in accordance with the guidelines and procedures established by both the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and MTGC. By strengthening the capacity of CTRE administrators and facilitators, the workshop aims to ensure that CTRE activities are delivered consistently, in a structured manner, and in ways that benefit tourist guides nationwide.

Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants were awarded MTGC certification as CTRE Certified Facilitators, valid for two (2) years. The certification recognises their competency and readiness to undertake the responsibilities associated with administering and facilitating CTRE programmes.

The successful organizing of the workshop marks another significant step by MTGC in strengthening the professional development and continuous learning of Malaysia’s tourist guides. It also reflects MTGC’s commitment to ensuring that CTRE programmes are effectively managed and implemented to maintain high standards of professionalism, knowledge and service within the Malaysian tourism guiding industry.
